Honeycomb Ceramic Filters are a special technology. They have the porous structure of foamed ceramic products, and has the characteristics of lightweight, chemical stability, large through-hole rate, high corrosion resistance, high strength, and good thermal shock resistance.
Working Principle of Honeycomb Ceramic Filters
Ceramic foam filters are characterized by high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance to molten metal, high strength, high qualified rate, and large surface area. They are mainly used for filtration and purification of metallurgical and casting metal liquids. The mixture of molten metal flows through the porous structure of the foam ceramic and becomes uniform, smooth and clean. The molten metal is filled into the mold, and the molten steel with fineness of the micron inclusion is removed. Some of the wrapped gases reduce the erosion of the sand mold and reduce the obsolescence rate of the product. Ceramic foam filters can be made into different apertures and porosity to obtain satisfactory filtration results.
Porous Filter Material
Ceramic foam filters depend on materials: alumina foam ceramic filters, SiC ceramic foam filters, zirconia ceramic foam filters and Magnesium Oxide foam ceramic filters.
In the process of bronze casting, SiC ceramic foam filter material is used as SiC.
Zirconia ceramic foam filters are used for steel castings. Zirconia ceramic foam filter material is ZrO2 zirconia. The zirconia heat resistance temperature of the filter is higher than about 1760 ° C, which has very high strength and excellent high temperature impact force.
Alumina ceramic foam filter can effectively remove solid state mixed with molten metal, so aluminum alloy can be successfully forged, aluminum foil is manufactured, and extrusion processing technology is perfect for aluminum products. 10ppi coarse porosity 70ppi fine porosity option
These ceramic foam filters are specially designed for casting metals. Due to the formation of “cake” on the side of the entrance filter and deep filtration in the ceramic matrix, these ceramic foam filters are effective tools for achieving metallurgical purity of molten metals during casting. The filter also stabilizes mold filling and prevents undesirable defects in the casting.
These filter functions are limited by the open 3D structure of the ceramic matrix created by the interconnected unit systems. They have good thermal conductivity, stability and resistance to sudden temperature changes.
